After the Pumpkin Patch a couple of weekends ago, there was an Airport Fun Fest. Basically the private airports opened their facilities and hosted several different types of aircrafts for families to explore and they even had a little air show. Unfortunately due to a lot of fun at the pumpkin patch and a potty training little one (it was too far to the airport to go without a potty stop)…we missed most of the air show. But we did manage to catch a little bit of it…I’m glad little man got to see a few minutes of the excitement as we loaded baby girl into the stroller.
Here is something you might not know about me: I LOVE airplanes, actually the thought of flying period. I have always found it very interesting how they “float” such heavy pieces of metal in the air and can travel super fast from one location to another…it’s one of the most amazing things to me, just under astronauts playing into space…AMAZING! Hubby finds them just as interesting so it was an all around perfect event for our little family.
Check out that ceiling fan! And I thought hubby bought us an “airplane propeller” fan!
A private plane.
Another private plane.
Military helicopter.
Guns!
There were so many people there, it was hard to get pictures of the planes.
Amazing details.
There was a good bit of military vehicles and aircrafts.
They thought it was neat that the FWC helicopter was see through at the nose.
Peek-a-boo!
Little man got this business card with three different helicopters on it and he carried that card around the entire day.
They were giving rides too, but we weren’t old enough to go.
Helicopters.
One of the airplanes was named the Savannah
I had so much fun practicing with my shutter priority setting, camera geek here!
The military planes were open and you could tour them, if you dare to wait the lines…seriously folks this was like Disney!
We got to watch this one land!
Did you know the fire trucks at the airport are green? We didn’t either, but they are.
He loves him some fire trucks!
Listened to the pilot explain the air travel thru the plane…very interesting how it works!
Tail of the jet.
Aren’t they cute?!
This is a grenade launcher.
Daddy was amazed by the guns tent set up by the army…I believe!
The helmet swallowed the babies heads.
After we walked around for a little while the lines died down and we got to take the babies into the planes.
They loved it.
Then it was getting late and they were getting tired.
One last trip inside and it was time to head home.
Before we could leave, we had to fulfill a promise to little man to sit inside a helicopter. It was all the boy wanted to do since finding out we were going to the air show.
He enjoyed every single minute of the trip.
It was such a great time for the whole family to see and learn about all the aircrafts, and something different for us to do. I’m glad we were able to take them to it, hopefully next time we wont miss the actual show!
